Are you or your partner often distant, angry, shut-down, or secretive? Do you worry if the status quo doesn’t change your relationship could be headed towards trouble, separation, or demise?  Sometimes the best self-help efforts can’t seem to recapture those wedding photo smiles.

If sexual or emotional betrayal, porn, social media, the internet, anger , financial concerns, or damaged love and respect are the elephant in your living room then perhaps couples therapy can help. Couples Therapy affords a safe venue to explore talking “to each other” (versus “at each other“) once again.  At Bright Hearts Counseling, we offer two types of couples therapy: Gottman method couples therapy and Sexual Addiction Couples Recovery therapy.

The Gottman Method is an approach to couples therapy developed by Dr. John and Julie Gottman that is based on the Sound Relationship House Theory which you can learn more about by clicking here. The Gottman’s theory assesses one’s relationship’s strengths and weaknesses and helps to improve areas such as communication, intimacy and respect, as well as removing barriers to conflict resolution. This in turn helps to create a more empathetic and compassionate focused relationship.

Take the Gottman “Love and Respect” Self-test (abridged) below to help clarify if you are feeling adequately loved and respected in your primary relationship:
